Description

TM 37 NE CHEDISTON CHEDISTON GREEN 3/7 Willow Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Early C16. Timber framed and plastered, with colourwashed brick to the right hand gable end; half-hipped thatched roof. 2 storeys. Various casement windows, mostly of mid C20; mid C20 half-glazed entrance door. Internal stack and an external stack on the left hand gable end. A former open hall house of modest quality. There are 6 irregularly-spaced bays, of which 2 at the south end and one at the north end were ceiled over, although there is no evidence of partitioning at ground level. The open hall comprised the 3 closely-spaced central bays. The floorbeam immediately to the north of the stack is only chamfered on the north side, indicating there may have been a firehood before the stack was inserted. Queen post roof, smoke-blackened throughout. In general the interior is much modernised. Listing NGR: TM3519478530
