Description

In the entry for:- TM 36 NE YOXFORD 5/143 Wolsey House Farmhouse II the description shall be amended to read: Farmhouse. C17 enlarged in c1840. Timber framed; Suffolk brick in Flemish bond to north and east elevations; red brick in various bonds to the rest. Hipped roof with central depression of slate turnerized. Two storeys. Square in plan, three-window range to the north and five-window range to the east. Flat-arched gauged brick windows to these elevations, all with sashes of an authentic design; scattered fenestration to west and rear elevations, much altered. Four-bays of timber framing to west elevation, very likely of C17 date, with stack of original design; spine beam throughout and exposed framing to kitchen bay at rear. The older house reused as service wing during rebuild: two entrances to early Victorian structure, that to north set under entrance-porch aedicule with stair hall to rear and having a six-panel door of an original design and overlight. East entrance with paired three-panel doors to stair hall, with stair of an authentic design. Cornices to ground floor in c1840 structure of Regency design. Some fireplaces of an authentic design. A timber-framed dairy with wing survived to 1984. Two stacks to east half, of cl840 date. TM 36 NE YOXFORD 5/143 Wolsey House Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Dated 'R.B. 1840' on plinth of east facade; core probdbly C18. Symmetrical white brick facades to north and east, otherwise red brick; slated roof. 2 storeys. North facade: 5 window range, inset sashes with glazing bars, flat brick arches; doorway with paired 3-panel doors, semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. East facade: 3 window range, windows as north facade; good doorway: inset 6-panel door, rectangular fanlight with glazing bars, portico on fluted Doric columns, fluted pilasters, entablature. Shallow pitch hipped roof. A timber framed dairy wing to the west has been demolished. Listing NGR: TM3818268564
