TM 37 SW CRATFIELD TONGS LANE 5/60 Coppings - II Farmhouse. Early C17 to left of stack, the remainder of the main range rebuilt in C18, probably replacing a medieval range; C16 work to rear. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3 cell form with lobby entrance. 4 windows, various casements, 2 with square leaded panes; one sash window on the ground floor. 6-panel raised and fielded entrance door, the upper 2 panels glazed. Internal stack; small external stack to right hand gable end. To the right hand side is a lower colourwashed brick addition with a pantiled roof and attached to the rear of this, one bay of a mid C16 associated dwelling, now used for storage: this has good framing and a diamond-mullioned window on the first floor, with evidence for others; the roof is modern. The C17 end of the main range has a fine exposed frame and the original newel stairs (both flights); there is some re-used panelling in the kitchen. Listing NGR: TM3046474962
