Listed Building: CULPHO FARMHOUSE (286289)

TM 36 SW FRAMLINGHAM BADINGHAM ROAD 3/11 Culpho Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Late C16. 2 storeys and attics to main range; basic 2-cell lobby- entrance plan. Timber-framed, faced in C19 red brick with flat pilasters at the corners; clay pantiles. A lower section on the left, originally single- storey but now 1½ storeys, is rendered. An internal chimney-stack with a plain red brick shaft, and a small external stack on the left side, of small Tudor bricks. 2-light and 3-light C20 plain casements and one large C20 gabled dormer. Entrance door now into a small C20 gabled red brick extension which also contains a stair. Interior with all timbers exposed on the ground floor, and main components above. Good quality plain studding; reversed braces; joists set flat and main beams with chamfer and ogee stops; 2 restored open fireplaces with timber lintels. The lobby entrance has been blocked, and the associated newel stair removed on the ground and first floors: a section remains from first floor to attic. On the upper floor, one blocked 3-light original window with moulded mullions visible within the plaster. The upper ceilings are original and exceptionally heavily timbered. Roofs renewed. The lower section on the left of the front was added in the late C17/early C18 as a heated service room: joists on edge; an upper storey added in C20. Listing NGR: TM3013764613
