Description

TM 38 SE WESTHALL 2/35 Barn at rear of Slough - Farmhouse GV II Barn. Early C17. Timber-framed; part plastered, part weatherboarded, part with later brick walling; clay pantiles. Frame and roof in 6 corresponding bays; the east gable and the 2 bays at the east end have their walls replaced in red brick. Widely-spaced studs to remainder, no middle rail; at the west end, long arched braces are halved against the studs. Some tie-beams cut; those remaining have long arched braces. Roof with one row of unstepped butt purlins, upper clasped purlins, straight windbraces. Lean-to extension in matching materials along the south side, with the roof-pitch partly altered for a later double-doored entry. Listing NGR: TM3941783027
