Former farmhouse. Late C16. 2 storeys and attics; 3-cell lobby-entrance plan. Timber-framed, encased in Edwardian red brick; black glazed pantiles. 2 internal chimney-stacks with rebuilt shafts, panelled, and corbelled heads with dentils. 2-light standard C20 small-paned casement windows. An enclosed and gabled porch has the date 1905 and initials W.N., for William Neave, the then owner. All timbers exposed inside: frame in 5 bays, including a chimney- bay. An original newel stair beside the chimney-stack up to the first floor, and a later flight to the attic. Ground floor ceilings with plain joists, set flat, and chamfered main beams; the upper ceilings were inserted later. On the upper floor, the remains of several original diamond-mullioned windows. Roof with clasped side purlins, cambered collars and cranked windbraces. Along the north side a 1½-storey lean-to, rendered, with a slate roof, was added in the early C19. The house stands sideways-on to the road, and was formerly called Dawson's Farmhouse.
