Description

LOWESTOFT TM59SW SANDS LANE 914-1/3/74 (South West side) 03/10/77 No.61 Ashdale II House. C17 block demolished 1961 leaving the southern addition of c1760. Extensive north additions 1961. Rendered and whitewashed brick with concrete pantile roofs. The south front is 2-storeyed with irregular bay system. Right of centre is a 6-panelled door with the 4 upper panels glazed. Reeded timber doorcase with roundels in the upper corners below a plain flat hood. One 8/8 sash either side with flush frames under segmental gauged skewback arches. The upper floor is lit through 4 sashes of varying sizes, respectively with glazing bars arranged 8/8, 6/6, 6/6, 8/8. They also have flush frames. Hipped roof with a wall stack on the west and north sides. The north side of the house is characterised by a cluster of 1- and 2-storeyed additions of 1961. INTERIOR. The east ground-floor room has panelled reveals to the east and south windows. Central staircase has stick balusters and turned newels. The west ground-floor room is entered through a 4-panelled door. It has an elaborate C19 chimneypiece with fluted columns and Adamesque panels, brought in from elsewhere. Listing NGR: TM5215993698
