ILKETSHALL ST. LAWRENCE STONE STREET TM 38 SE 3/25 Laurel Farmhouse
- II Farmhouse. C17. 2 storeys, with attic to part. Timber-framed; encased in red brick of circa 1900; clay pantiles. One internal and one end chimney- stack, both with plain shafts. Old 3-light and 4-light casement windows, with wedge lintels to the ground floor. Entrance door with 4 sunk panels, within a gabled open timber porch. A second mid-C20 door and porch at the north end. 3-cell plan: frame in 6 bays with widely-spaced studs anti reversed braces to the corners and partition walls. Main beams and joists with chamfer and pyramid stops. Several blocked original windows. The roof has one row of slightly-stepped butt purlins with pared-off tenons, full principal rafters with a cut-away section for the insertion of the purlin, and a deep, narrow ridge-piece; the bays do not correspond to the wall-bays.
