Description

TM 04 SE HINTLESHAM HADLEIGH ROAD 3/30 Normans Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C16 and later. Timber framed, part exposed, part rendered, plain tile roofs. L-plan. Main range, extended to right in 1980's and 3 bay cross wing. 1½ and 2 storeys. Main range late C20 timber casements one in altered opening, similar casement dormers (one in the extension). Rebuilt shaft of axial brick stack. C20 door to left of stack. 3 bay cross wing gabled to north, hipped to south. Exposed close studding to gable and right hand return. Left hand return, external brick stack, probably early C17. Ground floor cross casement with square leaded panes. Small first floor 2-light casement. Interior: Main range. Stack of c1600 bricks. Blocked doorway to rear. Chamfered bridging beam and horizontal joists. Cross wing. Exposed frame , differing from back to front, though possibly of one build, with the more impressive close studding at front, though some alterations and reused timbers. Arch braced cambered tie beam. Listing NGR: TM0702244064
