Description
WATTISHAM HITCHAM ROAD 1. 5377 The Castle TM 05 SW 34/970 II 2. C18-C19. A quadrangular block comprising the house and outbuildings in the form of a castle fortification with castellated stuccoed walls. The house is in the south-west part and has a circular angle tower of 2 storeys and a projecting circular turret of 3 storeys with an octagonal slate roof. Further to the north there is a 2 storeyed circular turret entrance to the barn and beyond it a "Gothic" window of 4 lights with brick tracery, similar larger blocked windows with interlacing tracery are on the east side which screens the other outbuildings. Roofs slate and pantiles behind the embattled parapets.
