Description

TM 04 SE HINTLESHAM HADLEIGH ROAD 3/31 Old Hall House (formerly listed as 22.2.55 Hintlesham Old Hall) - II House. Early to mid C16. Timber framed, part rendered and part brick encased. Hipped plain tile roof. 3 cell plan in 5 bays. 2 storeys. Continuous long wall jetty with replaced bressummer fascia. Moulded shafts with 5-sided pierced abaci. Scattered C19 and C20 fenestration. Ground floor 2 arched-headed fixed lights to left and right. 2 cross casements of 2 and 3-lights. C19 door with 4-centre arched head, beneath stack; elliptical headed doorway to service bay. 3 first floor windows, a 2 and 3-light cross casement, and a replaced 5-light ovolo mullion window. Axial brick stack. Left hand return, rendered, right hand return brick encased ground floor, frame exposed at first floor. Brick casing continues to rear wall, the first floor of which is rendered. External stack to rear of service bay. Interior: Fine parlour ceiling of roll moulded beams and joists, the latter with run-out stops. Some reused timber in hall. Simple chamfered beam to service bay. First floor. 5-light diamond mullion window on rear wall. 4 centre arched brick fireplace to chamber over parlour. Arch braced tie beams. 2 bays clasped purlin roof to right, the remainder up to the stack replaced. Listing NGR: TM0648843782
