Listed Building: IVY HOUSE (280966)

BROME THE STREET TM 17 NE 6/25 Ivy House II GV Farmhouse, now 2 dwellings. Late C16 with probably C18 range to rear. C19 alterations. Double pile plan. Timber framed and plastered. Front roof slope plaintiled, the remainder pantiled. Remains of ridge tiles. 2 storeys with attic to front range. 5 windows, large C19 casements with hoodmoulds. Lobby entrance: C19 colourwashed brick porch with wide open entrance and embattled parapet; within is a C19 6-panel door in 2 leaves, the centre panels glazed. Internal stack and gable stack to right. Single storey addition to right. To rear, on the left, a single storey range of C17 or early C18 colourwashed brick, modernised mid C20. Interior of main range has timbers concealed. Said to have been the Brome estate manager's residence in C19. Listing NGR: TM1547976665
