Wrongly shown on O.S. map as Wattisfield Road. House. c.1600, remodelled and
extended early C18, reroofed C19. Timber frame, plastered with red brick end
wall. Steeply pitched pantiled roofs. 2 cell lobby entry core remodelled as
part of 3 bay front range and service wing now forming an L on plan. 2
storeys with 1 storey and attic rear wing. Entrance slightly to left of
centre with a C20 half glazed door, flanking C20 casements, 3 first floor
transomed part opening metal frame leaded 3-light casements. Right gable end
is Flemish bond red brick with vitrified headers, plat band to gable with iron
tumbled-in initials 'RH', moulded kneelers to parapet with tumbled-in
brickwork, internal end stack is axial on ridge. To rear a boarded door, some
exposed framing with through tension bracing. Early building was at right
angles with front bay raised, rear bays now in service wing to rear left with
an axial ridge stack, a boarded door towards rear with an added bay beyond,
weatherboarded rear gable end, lobby entrance door in inner return. Interior:
early bays have a 4-centred arched door head from lobby into rear bay, jowled
storey posts, stop chamfered cross axial binding beams, later bays have stop
chamfered cross axial binding beams of smaller scantling.
