WESTHORPE CHURCH ROAD (SOUTH SIDE) TM 06 NW 4/108 Church Farm House 29.7.55 - II House. Early C17, altered C20. Timber frame, plastered. Steeply pitched plaintiled roofs, with some machine tiles. 3 bay hall range with slightly projecting cross ranges, short parlour to right, 3 bay service wing extends to rear to form an L on plan. 2 storeys and attic. Almost symmetrical front with a central entrance in a C20 lean-to porch, part glazed 6 panelled door, flanking 2-light C20 casements, first floor 1:2:1 light C20 casement, boxed eaves. Slightly projecting gable fronted ends have C20 3-light casements, shaped brackets to bargeboards, sham timber framing at apices of gables. Right return to parlour has a ground floor 2-light casement, first floor part opening metal frame 3-light casement, internal ridge stack towards rear has rebated panels to shaft, oversailing cap, to rear pantiled lean-to outshuts. Left return to service wing has 2 large transomed 5-light part opening metal frame casements, 2 C19 axial ridge stacks, inner return boarded door into rear bay, on first floor an early part opening casement, pantiled lean-to outshut to rear. Interior: hall has a bar stopped axial binding beam, parlour has a chamfered axial binding beam with moulding defaced, close studding with chamfered mid-rail, second parlour to front of service wing has early C17 panelling with a guilloche frieze, stop chamfered cross axial binding beam, ogee stop chamfered crossed binding beams in kitchen. Broad early C19 dogleg staircase with slat balusters, moulded handrail. First floor parlour chamber bolection fireplace surround, over hall a quirked wave moulded axial binding beam, main range and parlour have double butt purlin roofs, collars to principals, upper arched windbraces, service wing reroofed.
