Description

FRESSINGFIELD DALE ROAD TM 27 NE 6/26 Vales Hall -- II Manor farmhouse. Early C17 with mid C19 alterations. Timber framed core, completely encased in mid C19 red brick. Plaintiled roof except the rear of the main range which is clad in black pantiles. 2 storeys and attic. A main range with flanking projecting cross-wings. Symmetrical facade. 5 windows, large-paned tripartite sashes under flat brick arches; 2-light sashes to attics. Mid C19 gabled open porch with shallow 2-centred brick entrance arch, pierced wavy bargeboards and spike finial; inside is a C19 4-panel door, the upper panels glazed. Matching bargeboards to cross-wings. 2 axial stacks to main range of sawtooth pattern, with inset panels in the base and corbelled caps. The left hand stack was rebuilt in C19. Victorianised interior with only a little of the structure exposed. Some C18 2-panel doors. Remains of medieval moat. Listing NGR: TM2534378763
