Description

FRESSINGFIELD METFIELD LANE TM 27 NE 6/47 Metfieldlane Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. In 2 builds: late C15/early C16 to south, early C17 to north. Timber framed, mainly encased in red brick. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 2-cell form. Scattered fenestration: to the west side 4 windows each have a single C17 ovolo-moulded mullion exposed. C19 half-glazed door. Internal stack. The earlier part comprises the end bay of a late medieval range, the former gable end now set against the stack of the present house. There are corner braces passing through the floor level, 2 diamond-mullioned windows (one of them in the former gable), a slightly cambered end tie beam and the remains of a queen-post roof with the later roof above. The north cell has the first floor framing exposed. Newel stairs. Listing NGR: TM2835178746
