Description

TL 96 NE NORTON THE STREET 2/116 Burts Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, mid C17 with mid C16 core. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell cross- entry plan: hall range with 2 crosswings. Timber-framed, encased and partly underbuilt in early C19 red brick. Concrete plaintiled roof. An axial chimney, the stack rebuilt in early C19 red brick: a square panel in the base with saltire patterned terracotta tiles; 3 octagonal shafts. To right is a C17 external chimney of red brick with similar rebuilt C19 upper section with 2 shafts. Early C19 small-pane sashes with cambered heads and small panes. 6-panelled door at cross-entry position: C19 gabled porch on posts with latticework infill. The hall range has a mid C16 core: a multiple-roll moulded binding beam and roll-moulded joists. The right hand crosswing was added in C17 and all roofs rebuilt in clasped purlin form (the left hand wing may have a C16 core). A lower service wing to rear left of C16/C17 with much C19 remodelling. Listing NGR: TL9611365774
