Description

SOUTHOLT TM 16 NE 4/60 Willow Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Early C17. Timber framed and roughcast-rendered with a pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3-cell form. 3 windows, mid C20 casements without glazing bars. In cross-entry position is a C20 gabled porch with boarded and battened door. Internal stack with rebuilt shaft; C19 gable stack to left. Single storey mid C20 lean-to on right gable end. At rear of parlour cell is a late C17 dairy, heightened mid C20. Intact frame with plain studding and reverse-curved braces; one blocked first floor window with ovolo mullions and in the left gable an incomplete mullion and transom window. Parlour and service end have axial bridging beams with ogee stop-chamfers and plain square joists. In the hall only the axial bridging beam is visible. Plain square joists to attic floor. Clasped-purlin roof with 2-way wind bracing. Newel stair to first floor removed. Dairy addition has good brick floor, probably original. Listing NGR: TM1947068743
