Description

MONK SOHAM TM 26 NW 2/143 Barn 40m east of The Firs GV II Barn. Late C16. Timber framed, mainly clad in corrugated asbestos sheeting above a high concrete block plinth. West gable end is cement-rendered, dated 1951. Roof clad in corrugated metal sheeting. Interior. 5-bay frame with a mid rail all round; heavy studding, about 60% intact; curved braces against outside of studs. East gable end rebuilt. All but one of the tie beam braces have been replaced by knees. Intact roof in 8 bays, with clasped and butt purlins; arched wind-bracing to the upper row of purlins. Westernmost bay has C19 upper floor. Listing NGR: TM2106266507
