Description

SOUTHOLT TM 16 NE 4/56 Moat Lodge (formerly 29.7.55 listed as Southolt Lodge) - II Former farmhouse. A C16 3-cell range with a further wing to north east, also probably C16, forming L-shape plan. Timber framed and plastered, part lined in imitation of ashlar. Slated roof. 2 storeys and attic. Main range has mid C20 small-paned casement windows and a wide mid C20 gabled porch with half-door. Internal stack has rendered oblong shaft with white brick cap. The north gable end of the main range and the side of the wing form a single elevation: the first floor has 3 mid C19 mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, the ground floor 2 flush-frame sash windows with glazing bars and to the left 2 coupled non-opening casements. Mid C20 gabled porch and 6-panel door. Gable stack to left with slender white brick shaft. To rear a 3-light first floor window with diamond mullions. Interior not examined.
