Description

DENHAM HOXNE ROAD TM 17 SE 4/35 Greenlands Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Late C16. Timber framed and plastered with a pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. A 2-cell fragment of a 3-cell house, the parlour end to the left missing. 3 windows, C20 casements, with a single horizontal glazing bar to each light. Central doorway with mid C20 boarded door. A small external stack against the left gable end and another, set forward, against the right gable end. Single storey colourwashed brick addition to right. The frame seems largely intact, with some later straight braces. Evidence for original first floor windows. Chamfered-joist hall ceiling, the joists in the upper bay lost. Service partition has evidence for paired arched doorways, the service end originally being divided into 2 rooms. The roof is of the queen-post type, without bracing to either the collars or arcade plates. There is a ridge piece and evidence that the roof was hipped over the service end.
