WETHERINGSETT-CUM-BROCKFORD WETHERUP STREET TM 16 SW 5/134 Parkhall Farmhouse -- II Farmhouse. C16, the section to right of stack rebuilt, perhaps in late C17. Timber framed and rendered, roof of concrete pantiles. 3 cells. 2 storeys and attic. Mid C20 casement windows without glazing bars. Internal stack with rendered shaft. Lean-to kitchen addition of c.1975 on left gable end. Mid C20 doorway at rear. Interior. 2-bay cell to left has largely intact frame with evidence for diamond-mullioned windows. Cranked braces to central tie beam. Ceiling of ground floor room has bridging beam with wide chamfer and closely-set chamfered joists. Probable cross-entry to left. On upper floor, 2 C17 panelled doors with old ironwork and sections of reeded pilasters re-used as door jambs. Intact roof with one row of wind-braced clasped purlins. Later end more heavily modernised, much of the structure concealed. Ceiling of main lower room has pitchpine beam and various re-used joists, set on-edge and flat. Blocked fireplace with wide lintol. Clasped purlin roof, the rafters of regular scantling. Listing NGR: TM1389363974
