BARKING BARKING TYE
TM 05 SE
2/15 Former stable range
- 30 metres west of Moat
Farmhouse
GV II
Former stable range to Moat Farm, now an office and warehouse. 4-bay stable
of early or mid C17, with loft above; a lower and later C17 extension of 2
bays to right. Timber-framed and plastered, the studwork exposed, with
windbraces of shortened arch form; infill panels plastered, but some areas
retain weatherboard cladding. Corrugated iron roofs. C20 casements, and
boarded doors at gable ends. At the upper storey, diamond-mullioned windows
are exposed and glazed. Roof with 2 tiers of purlins, the lower tier butted
and the upper tier clasped and wind-braced. Raised collar-beams at open
trusses instead of tie-beams. Included despite C20 alterations because of
interesting and complete C17 framing.
