Description

BARKING BARKING TYE TM 05 SE 2/15 Former stable range - 30 metres west of Moat Farmhouse GV II Former stable range to Moat Farm, now an office and warehouse. 4-bay stable of early or mid C17, with loft above; a lower and later C17 extension of 2 bays to right. Timber-framed and plastered, the studwork exposed, with windbraces of shortened arch form; infill panels plastered, but some areas retain weatherboard cladding. Corrugated iron roofs. C20 casements, and boarded doors at gable ends. At the upper storey, diamond-mullioned windows are exposed and glazed. Roof with 2 tiers of purlins, the lower tier butted and the upper tier clasped and wind-braced. Raised collar-beams at open trusses instead of tie-beams. Included despite C20 alterations because of interesting and complete C17 framing. Listing NGR: TM0578051769
