Red brick, laid in English bond, with a roof of mid C20 plaintiles. 2 storeys and attics. A long central range with flanking projecting cross- wings; another wing extends to the rear. Casement windows with square-leaded panes, mainly of C18 date. In the left wing 2 C17 2-light windows with moulded frames; 2 similar early windows to the rear. Central gabled porch with 6-panel door (the upper 2 panels glazed); the upper part of the architrave is carved and has been re-used from elsewhere. Shaped gables to the wings with circular attic windows: the left gable and the entire right gable end rebuilt mid C20. One flat-roofed dormer and 2 internal stacks, the earlier one above the porch. Originally this range was a principal outbuilding of the former manor house of Whittingham Hall which stood within the large moated enclosure to the north. The left wing and adjoining part of the central range still exist as a barn, used as ancillary accommodation to the house. There is a good ground floor wooden fireplace with bolection moulding and carved frieze. Listing NGR: TM2793278128
