Description

BRAISEWORTH PRIORY LANE TM 17 SW 1/11 Priory Farmhouse -- II Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 2-cell, lobby entry type; the left cell originally took the form of a cross- wing. 2 storeys and attic. 2 windows, C18 3-light casements, originally square-leaded; ground floor windows have a transom. Gabled porch of clay lump with a plank door. Stack has plain axial shaft, the lower portion of narrow brick. One-storey addition to right, substantially C20. Interior. Ceiling of room to left has C17 plasterwork: ovolo cornice to each half, with symmetrically arranged Tudor rose and Fleur-de-lys motifs. Back-to-back first floor fireplaces with 4-centred brick arches. Oak newel stair; C17 cupboards underneath the lower flight have original doors. Butt purlin roof; the roof over the left cell is a later C17 reconstruction. Listing NGR: TM1338271436
