Description

STOWUPLAND SAXHAM STREET TM 06 SE 5/193 Poplar Farmhouse, -- II Farmhouse, c.1600. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell lobby-entrance plan. Timber-framed and roughcast. Concrete tiled roof, once thatched. Axial chimney, the shaft rebuilt C19 in gault brick; a C19 gable chimney of gault brick to right. Small-pane 3-light casements of late C19/early C20. Ripped C20 entrance porch, glazed, with panelled door. Good quality framing: in the hall are exposed joists laid flat and ovolo-moulded; the massive binding beam has very deep double ovolo mouldings with run-out stops. Close-studding. Original attic floor has deep on-edge joists. The parlour cell to right lacks any exposed framing and may have been rebuilt later. Listing NGR: TM0881262206
