EYE TM17SW BRAISWORTH ROAD 585-1/3/1 (West side) 15/06/51 The Laurels (Formerly Listed as: RAPSY TAPSY LANE The Laurels) II Farmhouse. Early C17, extended mid C19. Timber frame, partly clad with brick. Pantile and plaintile roofs. Plan consists of north-south range and a wing running east at the south end. Mid C19 addition of a parallel wing to south of this, forming present south facade. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic. South front with a 4-light casement to ground floor under concrete lintel. 4-panelled door to left. Two 3-light first-floor casements. Gabled roof. Stepped east and west gables, the former with internal gable-end stack carrying 2 octagonal flues. To left of facade and set back is a C19 stepped gable-end of north-south wing: one 3-light casement each floor and 2-light to attic. Early C17 parallel range to north terminating in stepped brick gable end to street (east). Brick laid in English bond. 2 blocked first-floor windows. Internal gable-end stack with two polygonal flues. Brick returns into otherwise timber-framed north front: 2- and 3-light C19 casements. North-south range with C20 casements. At junction of C17 ranges is a ridge stack with quadruple octagonal flues linked under a concrete lintel. INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of considerable interest. Listing NGR: TM1351172991
