House. Early C16, probably extended in C17, altered C20. Timber frame, part
exposed, part plastered. Thatched roof. 3 cell range with a probably later
lower cross wing projecting forward to left to form an L on plan. 2 storeys.
Hall and parlour range is continuously jettied to front. Close studding with
inserted brick nogging and heavily restored early mullioned windows. Ground
floor: entrance to left in a 020 open thatched porch with a brick and timber
base, a large 5-light window to centre with shafted hollow and ovolo mullions
with caps and bases, moulded sill, further right small 4 and 2-light windows
with simpler hollow and ovolo mullions, C20 brick buttress to right. 3 shafts
with brattished caps to curved braces supporting jetty, moulded mid rail and
bressumer, part rebuilt. First floor central 4-light window with chamfered
and beaded mullions, flanking hollow mullioned windows of 2 and 4-lights. To
rear of hall in an unusual position a rebuilt external stack with offsets and
2 diagonal shafts. Cross wing projects forward to left with high brick
plinth, cellar 2-light hollow mullioned window, 3 and 4-light chamfered
mullioned windows. Ridge stack where hall and wing meet, roof hipped to rear
left. 2 bay return of crosswing has small casements, deep eaves, a 1 storey
pantiled outbuilding. Interior not inspected.
