Description
STONHAM ASPAL CROWFIELD ROAD
TM 15 NW
5/165 Barn, aligned north-
- south, 30 metres
south-east of
Chevers Farmhouse
GV II
Barn, early C16. 4 bays. Timber-framed and weatherboarded with some C18
cable-pattern pargetting on surviving plastered areas. Corrugated asbestos
roof, once thatched. Various C19/C20 boarded doors. Good C16 studwork
with tension wind-bracing. Coupled-rafter roof, hipped at the south end.
Two arch-braced open trusses. The timber-framed north gable wall is probably
a vestige of an earlier building to the north. An unusually small barn,
possibly originally built as stabling, or as a cow-house (neathouse).
