Description

WORTHAM LONG GREEN (NORTH SIDE) TM 07 NE 1/151 The Old Queens -- II House, latterly a public house. c.1600, part rebuilt in later C17, altered and extended C20. Timber frame, plastered. Steeply pitched machine tiled roof. 3 cells, probably with a cross passage plan originally, hall and service bays a rebuilding of an earlier range. 2 storeys. Entrance in cross passage position to right of centre in a C20 gabled porch with a panelled door, 3 light C20 glazing bar casements. Plinth steps down with a straight joint to parlour bays to left. Boxed eaves. Rebuilt axial ridge stack between hall and parlour. A C20 wing extends to rear right. Interior: close studding, stop chamfered axial binding beams, first floor mortices for a 4-light diamond mullioned window, cranked braces in walling over parlour, cambered tie beams, collars clasp purlins with cranked windbraces over parlour end.
