Description

OFFTON SOMERSHAM ROAD TM 04 NE 6/151 Mount Pleasant Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C17 with early C16 or possibly C15 core. 3-cell lobby-entrance plan. 2 storeys and attics. Timber-framed and plastered. Plaintiled roof with C17 or early C18 axial chimney of red brick. Mainly mid C20 small pane casements. C20 gabled entrance porch with half-glazed panelled door. To left of entrance is a 2-bay parlour with massive exposed floor joists of early C16 type. To right, the hall and service all have exposed C17 on-edge joists; this upper floor structure has been intruded into an earlier building. Central C17/C18 chimney with lintelled open fireplaces to hall and parlour. The roof was rebuilt with attics in C18 and a 2-storey wing added to rear in C19. Listing NGR: TM0666949518
