Description

1. CAVENDISH CAVENDISH 2006 Cavendish Lane TL 84 NW 13/47 Blacklands 19.12.61. II 2. Whites Directory of 1855 states:- "The Hall was very ancient, but was rebuilt about 5 years ago." The present building incorporates parts of the earlier C16 timber-framed and plastered house, including a wood arch over the porch is inscribed with the date "Marche 1576", 2 storeys, attics and a sub-basement. At the east and west ends there are gabled wings with C19 out and shaped ornamental bargeboards. A gabled porch wing is jettied on the 1st storey on a moulded bressumer above a Tudor arched doorway with carved spandrels. The west wing has a 2 storey, 5-light bay window with "Tudor" arched lights. The windows generally are casements with glazing bars, some with "Tudor" arched lights. Roof tiled, with "Tudor" style shafted chimney stacks. The kitchen wing, L shaped on plan, has exposed timber-framing on the west arm and a stopped gable on the south arm. Roof tiled, with a gabled dormer and a red brick chimney stack with 3 octagonal shafts. The interior has a C17 mantelpiece with Ionic pilasters, tapering downwards. Listing NGR: TL8105246972
