Description

COCKFIELD STOW'S HILL 1. 5377 The Three Horseshoes Inn and adjoining tenement TL 95 SW 32/290 II 2. The cottage on the south was formerly a mediaeval hall house with a floor and chimney stack inserted in the C16-C17. The north part, now the Three Horseshoes Inn, was added probably in the C17. Renovated. A timber-framed and plastered building with a thatched roof. Two storeys. Small modern casement windows. There is a ridge chimney stack with 2 diagonal shafts on a square base. The interior has exposed timber-framing, ceiling beams and joists and the south part has a cambered braced tie beam with crown post and smoke blackened roof timbers. Listing NGR: TL9101353013
