Description

TL 97 SE STANTON BURY ROAD 3/31 Manor Farmhouse II Former farmhouse, now a house and shop. Part early C17, part mid C19. T- shaped form: 2 storeys. A timber-framed and rendered main range, aligned east-west, with an internal chimney-stack with 4 attached hexagonal shafts on a rectangular base. Pantiles to west of stack, double Roman tiles on east. Overhanging tie-beam to west gable. Various small-paned sash windows, and some C20 casements. The western half of the east-west range is the oldest part of the house: the 2-bay ground storey room has exposed studding and ceiling joists, and a main beam with ovolo-moulding. 2 blocked original 2- light windows on the south wall, one 4-light window on the north, all with ovolo-moulded mullions in situ. Open fireplace with timber lintel, and a corresponding fireplace to the east, but the eastern half of the range is a C19 replacement, reduced in length circa 1970. On the south, a small mid C19 red brick cross-wing with an end chimney-stack has a small-paned sash window and a half-glazed door under an open gabled porch on the west side, and contains a shop.
