House with carriage house and loft attached. Late C16, with later alteration and extension. Timber-framed, now encased in C19 red brick, rendered at rear; plain tile roofs. Brick stacks, one of four clustered octagonal shafts in centre of main roof, one single shaft rising from base of rear wing roof. EXTERIOR: 2-storey range with single-storey wing extending to rear from right end. Entrance front has full-height gabled porch left of centre entered through a 6-panelled door, the upper 4 panels glazed. One 2/2 horned sash to first floor. To left, in main wall, is a half-glazed door with an 8/8 unhorned sash further left; identical sash above. To right of porch is a tripartite sash to ground floor and a 6/6 unhorned sash above. Right gable wall has sashes of various configuration. Rear: mixed fenestration. Carriage house has one 8/8 horned sash and carriage house doors to gable end; hay-loft doors above. INTERIOR: not inspected but from survey of 1973 known to have two first-floor rooms with original panelling; and stone fireplaces with stop-moulded jambs and shouldered obtuse angled heads. Two wide fireplaces at ground floor, one of stone with stop-moulded jambs and shouldered obtuse angled head, and one with massive stop-chamfered beam. Hewn stop-chamfered beams and cross beams. Exposed timber-framing in room above porch.
