Description

TL 86 NE GREAT BARTON LIVERMERE ROAD 1/10 The Old House - II Former farmhouse. C16, with later extensions. 2 storeys; 3-cell form. Timber-framed and rendered, with a hipped plaintiled roof. An internal chimney-stack with a plain red brick shaft. 3 Edwardian mullion-and transome type 3-light windows to the ground storey; 3 3-light casement windows with a single bar to lights on upper storey. An off-centre entrance door within a C20 enclosed, flat-roofed porch. Inside, the central bays, to the left of the chimney-stack, have a heavy exposed ceiling with cross-beams and joists with an ogee-type moulding. Adjoining this section is a separately-framed, apparently later, bay, of plain, rather poor, joists. The left side of the stack has a large open fireplace, with a plain timber lintel over. Along the rear, a mid-C19 2-storey range, separately roofed, has been added to form a double house. This range, in rubble flint with red brick dressings, has a hipped roof of black glazed pantiles, with a wide eaves overhang; 2-light and 3-light casement windows, with arched heads to surrounds on the ground storey.
