3/3 Lodge Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. C16 core; early C20 exterior. 2 storeys: complex form. Timber- framed, encased in red brick; plaintiled roofs: some mock timbering to front. Sash windows to front range; casements with transomes to rear; dormers. Gabled open timber porch. The timber-framed core of the house is partly in the front range, and partly in the rear, and seems to have been reduced in size. At the south west end of the front range is a large external chimney stack in Tudor brick, with a pointed-headed nichenow on its outer face. The ground-storey room relating to this stack has a very fine heavy timber ceiling, with folded-leaf carving on the sides of the main beam, and joists with ogee-mouldings and pyramid stops. At the back, another ground storey room has a heavy plain ceiling with unchamfered joists and a blocked stair- trap.
