LETHERINGHAM WICKHAM MARKET ROAD TM 25 NE (North side) 5/92 Barn at Letheringham 16/3/66 Lodge (formerly listed as barn 170 yards to south, east) G.V. II
Barn. C17. Timber framed with clapboarded facing and wattle-and-daub infill and a corrugated iron roof, originally thatched. Eight bays with transepts to one side. South face: deep brick plinth of Flemish bond and oak clapboarding to the lower body. Panels of wattle and daub, with a cement render. Double doors at right and left and double loft door to far right. Right hand gable end: C19 brick outshut to the ground floor with pantile roof. Double door to the gable above this. Left hand end similarly clapboarded. Rear: extensive C19 and C20 addition at right and a lean-to running between the two transepts which are C18 additions with gable ends and double doors. Interior: close studded walling and arched braces. Tie beams, originally supported on arched braces and now with knee joints. Collars above and wind bracing to the roof. Inserted C20 floor at one end.
