Description

An excavation was undertaken in advance of construction of a range of chalets in the ground of the Priory Hotel. A resistivity survey identified two areas of likely occupation and the building was sited to cause a little disturbance to these as possible. The excavation method was limited to exposing and recording the archaeological surface and hadn digging the foundation trenches and recording the sections where they cut archaeological features. Topsoil depth was c.25cm over the south area, rising to c.50cm at the north area.
