Description
An assessment of a 29ha site was undertaken ahead of commercial development, commissioned by Vincent and Gorbing Planning Associates and funded by Wilcon Homes. The site was mainly arable farmland and approx 4.5 ha of the area is covered by Eldohouse Farm itself, various outbuildings and small plots of rough ground and some woodland. Map and documentary search, including Aps, and an Earthwork survey was carried out. No earthworks were seen as a result of the survey. The area was fieldwalked over the arable land which had recently been ploughed, rolled and drilled, it was walked at 20m intervals in order to carry out a surface collection survey. An area to the south east was still under stubble so examined at a later date. Shovel test holes were also excavated to examine the depth of top and subsoil, 8 test holes in total measured between 0.3-0.4m of top/subsoil (S1).
