Description

2006: Members of the Aldeburgh and District Local History Society (ADLHS) organised a survey and excavation of a site on a slight promontory on the norther bank of the River Alde. Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service and freelance specialists provided assistance. This second phase of excavation followed a previous phase in 2004 and comprised two trenches/excavation areas. Trench 3 re-examined the interior of the an enclosure partially excavated in trench 1 in 2004. Trench 4 was positioned to examine the possible northern corner of the enclosure and large pit outside it.
