Description

Excavation and monitoring on the site of the new Hospital Zone Maintenance building identified Iron Age, Roman and Early Saxon features relating to extensive settlement around Caudle Head Mere. Monitoring of service trenches around adjacent buildings showed the Roman occupation continuing to the SE and N of the building, with a drop off to the N end of building 1140.
