Description
Eight evaluation trenches were excavated across the site in advance of residential redevelopment. The evaluation revealed that the existing site boundaries were long standing and maintained, possibly originating in the mid Saxon period. Some undated, possibly earlier, ditches were also encountered, together with medieval pits, late medieval postholes, and rubble deposits containing reused medieval building material, interpreted as evidence of a possible medieval precursor to the current farm.
