Description
An archaeological investigation was carried out over two days at the Theatre Royal, which is a Grade II listed building. Recording, and limited investigation work, revealed evidence of the original access to the stalls and possibly that the stage front formerly extended further into the auditorium. The work was carried out with the aim of answering questions about alterations to the original design. The work was carried out to provide evidence for major reconstruction project to be undertaken by the National Trust (S1).
