Description
All fifteen footing holes (2m square)were observed. All of the evidence of activity dated to the post-medieval occupation of the site. A large, rubble infilled, Victorian cellar was identified in the centre of the development area and similarly dated brick walls were recorded crossing the footing hole at the north-western side of the site. Beyond the limits of the cellar, the chalk of the underlying solid geology was encountered at 2m below the present surface at the north-eastern side but at only 60cm on the south-western side of the site.
