Description
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on groundworks involved with the construction of a new visitor centre, road realignment and two new roundabouts at Gate 1, RAF Mildenhall. A total of four visits were made to the site. The area where the new roadway was observed after it has been stripped. The footing trenches were dug into natural chalk, found at a depth of 0.50cm below ground level. A further area, north and east of the visitor centre were observed and the stripping of the area between the two roundabouts was also monitored. No finds or features of archaeological interest were identified (S1).
