Description
Monitoring of the groundworks for an extension. A single visit was made to inspect the foundation trenches and upcast spoil. The foundation trenches were 6m wide and 25m long for the full footprint of the extension and were excavated to a depth of 1.6m. They revealed a substantial depth of overburden; comprising both recent upper deposits and a lower deposit containing a few post-medieval finds. No archaeological features were recorded but fragments of 18th century pottery was present in the upper 0.2-0.3m of the section (S1).
