Description
An archaeological watching brief was carried out on trial trench works being undertaken at Hamblin Road Car Park during the construction of an underground floodwater storage tank. The trenches were x-shaped and lay almost entirely within the footprint of the circular tank which was 15.2m in diameter. Further visits were made during the relation of a water main which bisected the site and on the excavation of a narrow trench around the exterior of the tank footprint. A late post-medieval wall was identified (S1).
