Description
A watching brief was undertaken during topsoil and subsoil strip in advance of gravel extraction, demonstrating that this landscape had been used from the Neolithic to the present day. The earliest activity identified was a single Beaker pit, which was followed by a scatter of Later Bronze Age pits and a series of ditches relating to a Romano-British field system in the northern part of the site. A post-medieval field system was also established, which was backfilled in the modern era.
