Description
In May 2014 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried an archaeological evaluation of land west of Coupals Close, Haverhill, Suffolk (NGR TL 6811 4481). The site is situated to the south-east of the Haverhill town centre. It lies within an area of archaeological importance, recorded on the Suffolk County Historic Environment Record, with a potential for Roman and medieval settlement remains in particular. Roman and Iron Age pottery and an inhumation are also known from the area. In the event the evaluation revealed no archaeological features or finds excepting the modern (20th century) structure of river bank reinforcement and deposits of made ground.
